When viewers last saw Charlie, she was happily skipping down the yellow brick road into the Wizard of Oz with Dorothy (Tiio Horn) even after Dean had warned her of the dangers that she could find there.
“You have no idea what’s in Oz. There could be flying monkeys, armies of witches — there’s all kinds of danger,” Dean warned Charlie before she entered the supernatural world.
“Promise?” she responded, enticed by the prospect of her new adventure.
After the gateway to Oz was shut, Dean wondered whether or not they would ever see Charlie again. “Of course,” Sam responded. “There’s no place like home.”
Flying monkeys and armies of witches will be the least of their problems when Charlie returns and, according to the synopsis, the Winchester brothers will see a very different Charlie.
Executive Producer Jeremy Carver says, “Charlie definitely comes back from Oz somewhat different — and that’s an understatement. Things happened. And typically, what happens in Oz, stays in Oz, but not this time. It’s all coming back. Suffice to say, we’re going to see a Charlie that has been substantially changed.”
“What the hell happened to you in Oz?” Dean asks Charlie as she holds a knife to an old woman’s throat.
“Everything I wanted,” she replies.
But that’s not all we know about Charlie’s return. When the episode was first reported, it was hinted that she would be bringing back something “very dangerous” with her to the real world. Now THAT’S scary!
Don’t miss it. The adventure seeking Charlie never disappoints. Watch it Tuesday, Jan. 27 on the CW 9/8c.
CHARLIE RETURNS FROM OZ — Sam (Jared Padalecki) is scanning the internet for suspicious paranormal activity and comes across a video of Charlie (guest star Felicia Day) beating up a district attorney. Dean (Jensen Ackles) suspects she’s back from Oz and hunting on her own, assuming the district attorney must have been a demon. When they do find Charlie, they are shocked when she tells them why she really came back from Oz.
Phil Sgriccia directed this episode written by Robbie Thompson.
